The camp is conducted by two teachers and the camps philosophy is, that the children through their stay shall learn to behave and learn about social boundaries. But soon the children are to discover that the island is not as deserted, forcing them to fight against dangerous criminals. It is a fictional series with a documentary flavor where all dialogues are improvised. The Island is a scripted format with clear elements of suspense and a charged and tense atmosphere. The children’s meeting with each other, the ongoing sinister atmosphere that comes from being alone on the island, while strange things happens and the harsh lighthouse keeper gives the serial both drama, suspense and mystery. The series is sold as a finished program to Sweden, Norway and Holland.
